the smell of canadian rain

A place to share your voices with janis so she can write them into a new play. What does Canadian rain smell like? Stars, apparently.

question tag

Ok. There's tons of great stuff on here and I'm hoping that you'll keep it up and continue commenting on the other posts.

As a way to generate more awesome details for the play and to keep the blog fresh, I thought we could start a little random question tag (an internet version of our improvised monologues). I'll start with a question and then someone can answer it and also come up with a new question for the next person to answer and then come up with their own question and on and on... last person to answer and ask a new question is "it."

So.... first question: What three objects most represent you right now and why?

1. I've always felt that my green cap was a good representation of me because I always have it and it has always kinda seemed a part of me. So there's one.
2. My grandfather's ring. I love rings and it kind of represents the Fogarty blood line to me. Passed down by my father's father and so on.
3. A ham sandwich. They're just that good.

If I had to live in one city for the rest of my life, I'd live in Sydney, Australia because Australia is beautiful. The weather is great, and I like the almost isolation from the rest of the world. Well, the main reason is because I've always loved kangaroos and have wanted to see one since forever. It's just nice to be somewhere that's said to be like Canada but different in so many ways, and it seems like Australia would be quite an adventure. I chose Sydney because I like the city, and I have a thing about being able to say I live in the capital of something. I've lived in Boston (capital of Massachussetts), Montreal (capital of Quebec) and Edmonton (capital of Alberta). I also lived in China but I'm not sure if that was the capital. My Chinese geography isn't quite so good. Haha, so yes, it's just this weird thing about liking capital cities.

Q. If you only had a week left to live, what one thing would you make sure you did before you ran out of time?

i'm going to answer this question as if i was going to die in one week starting now, as opposed to when i'm 90.
i would definatly go sky diving. just because it would be awesome.
i would watch all my favourite movies again, but only the really good ones, plus i would watch all the old cheesy horror movies that i haven't seen yet
i would read the 27 books i own that i haven't read yet. -this would be the most important. i would start it first.
i would quit school.
i would write a will.
i would eat and eat and eat all the "fine foods" being chocolate and... spaghetti.
say good bye to my friends and familly, and tell certain friends my "true emotions" towards them. but not harshly. not harshly at all.

as pathetic as my list seems, these are all the important things i wish to accompish.

Q: if you had to pick one song to listen to for the rest of your life, and ONLY that song, which would it be?

if I had to listen to only one song for the rest of my life it would be somewhere over the rainbow / what a wonderful world by Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole. I would choose this song becuase it's so beautiful. The 2 songs are already both inspiring and put together with the simple tempo in the background is to die for. It's a happy song but stirs up so many emotions and allows you to get lost in it. This is one of those songs you can listen to over and over and never get sick of.

Q. If you could go back in time and change something would you and why?

I think I'd want to meet Martin Luther King Jr.
I don't know why exactly--there are a lot of human rights activists--but I've always admired him in particular. I still remember learning about him in kindergarten. Even then I thought he was pretty awesome. I wonder if he was ever afraid--well i'm sure he was--but I wonder if he was ever so afraid that he considered just shutting up and accepting that racism and discrimination will always be a part of American culture. I mean, it's still is an issue. But I think he made a difference--At least a small one--At least for African Americans.

OK. What is one thing that you want so bad that you would eat a live cockroach for it--one of those big ones? And you cant just swallow it. You have to chew it.
AND, would you still do it if it were two cockroaches?

i was gona start this one with a PS3 cuz those things are just about impossible to get a hold of, but after some thought it came to me that if i just waited i could get one newayz and roaches are nasty, like if u just bit of its head and swallowed the body it could survive in ure stomach for about 2 days b4 it died from starvation...so ive decided i would want to know the answer to every mystery, i hate it when knowledge comes to an end and life is just a mystery i want to know what really happened with jfk, i want to know what happens after the universe, what happesn to you when you enter a black hole, i would eat all the roaches on earth for that knowledge the answer to every mystery

whats the hardest thing in your life right now, and would you give it up?

The hardest thing in my life would have to be finding purpose in things that I do. Well not really just me but everyone. What society does on a daily basis. Things like going to school, working, biting our tongues. Just kinda seeing the fact that we do it for no other reason than because we are told it's normal. It's just hard doing things and not having a solid reason why you're doing it. Strange.

As for giving up, I don't think I could stop searching for purpose. It's what gets me out of bed in the morning.

i think my best quality is being blunt.
not many people would think thats a good quality.
but i think it is.
i am brutally blunt.
to the point of being a bitch sometimes.
but i think its an amazing quality.
i never have to hide stuff.
and i dont beat around the bush.
it wastes time.
and i think my worst quality would be that i am cynical and bitter to the point that i push away people the care about me.

Question: If you had the ability to create one miracle in life, what would it be.

My miracle would be to be able to record dreams. I know that sounds minor compared with all the other things that might be made possible, but I think the world would be more positively affected than we might think if people could remember their dreams.... I think we'd decipher many of the mysteries of the world and be much more cognizant of how interact with others. And, I'd have a much easier time writing plays!

question, for as many of you as want to answer: what are you afraid of?

dentists. and hospitals. and doctors.
i think it's mainly the smell of those places. i don't know what it is. i'm certain it's an after affect from when i was 2 and a pot of boiling water fell on me. i got 3rd degree burns and fell in the garbage can. i had to get plastic surgury. isn't it funny the little things you remember? i don't remember it hurting, and i don't remember the doctors, or the special clothes i had to wear, but i do remember sitting in the hospital, and i remember how white it was. and i remember walking through the kitchen, looking up at my mom, seeing the kettle in her hand, and then, all of a sudden, being in the garbage can which was right behind me.
i'm also afraid of suffocating

im afraid ill disappoint my sister.
im afraid of the people that live upstairs and are creepy.

Still bodies of water at night. I don't mind the ocean or big lakes. It's the ponds.
